Whenever I’m asked to stop by and click a little “Day in the Life” lifestyle session, I love to capture what really makes that family, a family! For this darling gang, it was their Sunday morning ritual where:
Dad makes Swedish Pancakes
Mom actually sips HOT coffee and hums along to John Denver
Brothers smirk, climb, jump, bounce and wiggle
Sister is upside down
and at any given moment, someone has a llama close by and a book they’re reading.
As if that’s not cute enough, I arrived to their charming house to see it beautifully-decorated, imperfectly perfect matched pillows, and although mom won’t admit it, my instructions to “not dress up, just be yourselves” was met with her awesome styling and some really cool tees. AND they had a powered sugar shaker thingy. (winner!)
Dang they were one awesome hip family.
So I peeked around doorways and photographed some adorable images that really reflect who they are. It was a relaxed vibe, and if they were stressed, they hid it very well. (Christy? Was is stressful?) As I was wrapping up, brainstorming which John Denver tune would be the soundtrack for their session’s video, I caught a little verse dad was writing on the kitchen chalkboard. This old retired Catholic girl ran home and looked it up, and this old Irish lass got lucky and found a beautiful song that artist AnnaMilkah De Leon wrote about it. I think it’s perfect. Perfect like their beautiful Sunday mornings.
You make all things new
Sweeter than yesterday
Spring time is fin’lly here
So I say…
This is a new heart
