Here are a few favorite locations around the west Lake Minnetonka area. Can I walk onto a new scene and find some great spots to click? Absolutely. But these favorites are tested, tried and true. I know them well!
A favorite historic house in Minnetonka.
Pros: Gorgeous wild flower gardens from spring to frost. A couple great spots on steps to pose larger groups. A charming wood bridge and stream. Woods, paths, grassy knolls.
Cons: Can be very crowded during peak days or weddings. The bridge can have harsh lighting at certain times.
A great little park tucked away in Minnetonka on a small lake.
Pros: A nice bright pergola, rock wall, split rail fence and walking paths. Wooden dock out onto pond. Great fall colors.
Cons: Limited seating on dock, and finicky light at times.
Pizza Hut and pay phones.
There are three areas of town I like to focus on, with a couple other hidden nooks. A nice wooden walking path, with wildflowers and logs in the summer months. Nearby are great steps, grey & black “industrial” garage doors and steps, and more. There’s a quick stop at the main cruise dock, but limited parking. On the other end of town is the beach area, with a wildflower path, sandy beach, jumping dock (seasonally) a couple great places for silhouettes, and much much more. Usually for a regular family session we’ll pick 1-2 scenes, or it gets to be too long for the kids.
Cons: None, it’s a perfect spot for families and seniors
