Let’s take a moment to chat about your family. You know, the ones you share your life with? That busy life you never seem to get a moment of rest in? Those kids…. you know the ones people like to remind you about the speed they grow up? (spoiler alert, it’s “fast.”)
Let’s plan a morning together and savor this time. I can promise you, the one thing I hear time & time again about doing these sessions is “That was one of the best uses of our time & money that we’ve spent in a long time.” We invest in homes, cars & toys, sports, technology, trips and more….. Time to hit PAUSE and invest a moment in the reasons you do this all for.
Your family. Your life.
“Tracie Bea…. What’s your favorite thing to photograph?”
My kid’s toothbrushes all lined up in their messy drawer.
Three little plates set out in a row, the 1st one with a few more bites than the others.
(With no cheese.
Because she doesn’t like cheese.
Except when she does.)
A bin full of mittens and gloves, some with their faithful partners, others rogue and solo.
One bubble sock, two pairs of ghillies and three very pricey pairs of noisy Irish Rutherford hard shoes.
Three little minions in their jammies eating pancakes on a Saturday morning.
The dumb old dog waiting patiently for someone to slack and leave syrup-soaked flapjacks unattended just a tad too close to the table’s edge.
I have 52,329 pictures of my kids. But if the castle’s on fire, these are the ones I will grab on the way out.
Ironic. Because they’re all things I could just re-take the next day.
But these little things are the most precious images I have of my family, because they capture what our daily life is like. Sure, the posed ones are nice, but when I’m tired of ranting “the grow up so fast” I will have proof of these precious moments when they were little. Or medium. Or big.
So…….I am offering families a very special collection for my popular “Day in your Life” family session. Let’s face it, while a whole day journaled would be nice, my presence gets a bit intrusive. So we’ll talk and figure out a couple hours that fit your family, and a couple activities that really speak to who you are. You get to skip the fancy outfits (unless that’s what you wear every day) and forget about making the house spotless. (unless that’s what it is all the time.) No need to be nervous, several reasons to just enjoy the experience and have fun. I have done many many of these sessions, and EVERY single family has come back saying it was one of the best things they’ve ever done, as far as capturing their day to day life.
These types of sessions are best finished with an album or folio box. There will be images that are “print and display over the fireplace” worthy, but the photojournalistic feel to them just lend well to a book with most images from our time together in print.
To tell a story.
